Pernambuco: Live

Pernambuco are a dynamic strings collective of ecologically-minded musicians. 'Pernambuco: Live at The Loco Klub’ delivers a programme celebrating both Brazilian and Western music, classical and contemporary, alongside live discussions and film footage of the conservation work we are supporting. Featured performers include Matthew Barley (cello), Harriet Riley (percussion), and Simmy Singh (violin).

Through events such as this, we are raising awareness for Brazil's pernambuco tree, or paubrasilia, which is now endangered due to mass deforestation. Music shares a powerful link to this tree, the bows of string instruments being crafted from pernambuco wood for generations due to its strength and light weight. We have partnered with Trees of Music for this event, a RAIN network project who are working to grow pernambuco trees, reforest water springs, and safeguard the future of classical music through action, engagement, and education.

This will be our premiere performance and there are a number of costs associated to this. If you are deep-pocketed and able to support us, please do get in touch directly at pernambucogroup@gmail.com
