David de la Haye presents the underwater sounds of Sunderland.

The docklands and intertidal mudflats; the marina and estuary of the River Wear; the rock-pools of Roker and freshwater ponds found inland. It’s hard to believe how incredibly diverse these soundscapes are! Improvising musicians were invited to respond to bespoke underwater sound libraries from these unheard spaces. This AV install takes the audience on an aquatic journey from the coast.

David’s ecological sound works have been exhibited by BALTIC, British Ecology Society, BBC Radio and Glasgow Science Centre for COP26. He is currently commissioned by Sound and Music.
