JOW and Harriet Riley & Alex Garden at St Ambrose Church

  • St Ambrose Church, Bristol BS5 7AN (map)

‘In-the-round' double-bill of unclassifiable acoustic instrumental music in a sumptuous acoustic setting.
JOW is the cello and trumpet duo of James Gow (Eleven Magpies, Dau) and Pete Judge (Get The Blessing, Three Cane Whale). Tonight they launch their new EP, "the one that does not go straight home", which was recorded in St Ambrose Church itself by (and also featuring) Alex

"There is no ego to this, just musicians playing organic music. The audience love them" (Bristol 24/7)

HARRIET RILEY & ALEX GARDEN perform a hypnotic dialogue between the highly unusual pairing of vibraphone and fiddle. They have released two albums ('Sonder' & 'Sonder II'), both exploring elements of trad folk, minimalism and jazz. They're joined by regular collaborator STEVIE TODDLER on double-bass.

"A stunning mix of dreamlike atmospheres and mesmerising energy" (Bright Young Folk)

Expect music of beauty and invention, unexpected instrumental combinations, and playful experimentation.
